UM Hall of Famer Jack McClinton to Compete in Halftime 3-Point Contest Supporting Marcus Allen’s Fight Against Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Jack McClinton will return to the court this Saturday at the University of Miami during halftime of Miami’s matchup with the Louisville Cardinals men's basketball, taking part in a special three-point shooting contest designed to support a member of the Hurricanes basketball family.

The former Miami standout and 2022 University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame inductee will participate in the halftime event to help raise awareness and financial support for current Hurricanes guard Marcus Allen, who is currently battling Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Modeled after the format used during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend three-point contest, the challenge will feature five racks of basketballs placed around the three-point line. McClinton will have 90 seconds to knock down as many shots as possible, with each made three-pointer triggering a $100 donation to Allen’s GoFundMe from McClinton and a group of supporting donors.

The halftime contest serves as both a fundraiser and a show of support from the Hurricanes community, bringing attention to Allen’s fight while encouraging fans to rally behind him and his family.

McClinton remains one of the most accomplished players in Miami basketball history. The Baltimore native starred for the Hurricanes from 2006 through 2009 and quickly developed a reputation as one of the most dangerous long-range shooters in college basketball.

He finished his career shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc, which still ranks second all-time in Atlantic Coast Conference history. McClinton also earned back-to-back First Team All-ACC honors during his time in Coral Gables.

His senior season in 2008–09 stands among the most memorable individual campaigns in program history. McClinton was named ACC Player of the Year after leading Miami to the NCAA Tournament and delivering several clutch performances throughout the season.

More than a decade after his playing career ended, McClinton’s legacy as one of the greatest shooters to ever wear the orange and green remains firmly intact. On Saturday, he will once again showcase that trademark shooting ability, this time in support of a meaningful cause.
