Miami Hurricanes hold a big advantage over Stanford on the Injury Report

The ACC requires their teams to submit an Availability Report (ie injury report) before every conference matchup.

Ahead of their Friday opener, Miami only has two injuries, while Stanford's report looks like a CVS receipt.

After staying relatively healthy through training camp, Miami only lists two players, both "out" for the opener.

Tight end Luka Gilbert suffered a knee injury shortly before camp and will be out for the year. Cornerback Jaboree Antoine is nursing an undisclosed injury and will miss this game. We don't know yet how long Antoine will be out.

The Hurricanes have had well over a month to plan for Gilbert's absence. Expect third year TE Elija Lofton to carry much of the load, but true freshmen Gavin Mueller and Israel Brings have both shown positive development.

At corner, you can expect Miami's top four to be OJ Frederique, Xavier Lucas, Damari Brown and Ethan O'Conner.

Stanford could have serious problems at offensive line if some of these injury designations aren't upgraded by Friday.

Here's the Stanford report:

Out
  • OL Aidan Kilstrom (Starting center, injured vs. Hawaii)
  • OL Nathan Mejia
  • OL Nick Fattig
  • OLB Dylan Stephenson
  • WR Carter Shaw
  • WR Daylen Sharper
  • CB Jason Hill Jr.
  • CB Breylan Thompson
  • CB Jack Duckworth
  • DB Zaiden McDonald
  • CB Aaron Morris
  • DL Jacobi Murray
  • DL Brendan Delaney
  • TE Reiman Zebert
  • K London Bironas
Doubtful
  • OLB Gabe Kaminski
Questionable
  • WR Caden High (A top returning offensive playmaker who missed Week 0 but practiced Tuesday)
  • WR Nico Brown
  • OL Niki Prongos (Starting right tackle)
  • OL Simione Pale
  • OLB Ernest Cooper
 Probable
  • S Jay Green
  • CB Chris Garland
  • CB Javion Randall
  • WR Jacob Butler

Kilstrom, the Cardinal's starting center, will be a big loss. He was carted off during the Hawaii game. Prongos and Pale, projected starters at left tackle and right guard, would be sorely missed if they don't play. They are both questionable.

OLB Gabe Kaminski being doubtful is also a notable one. He had 1 and a half sacks and three pressures against the Rainbow Warriors.

We'll continue to monitor the availability reports as they get updated for the remainder of the week.

Miami faces Stanford on Friday at 9pm ET from Palo Alto, California.
