From Friday night Canes gatherings and Franklin Street to Halloween tailgating, UNC parking, Kenan Stadium traditions and a special 200-game milestone, here’s everything traveling Miami fans need to know.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Halloween weekend is bringing the Miami Hurricanes to one of college football’s historic campus settings as No. 1 Miami prepares to face North Carolina on Saturday, October 31, at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on ABC.
For traveling Hurricanes fans, this weekend offers more than a football game. There’s the opportunity to explore Franklin Street, experience UNC’s campus traditions, enjoy Halloween festivities and connect with fellow Canes who have made the trip to North Carolina.
Kenan Stadium is also celebrating its 100th football season in 2026, adding another layer of history to the weekend.
GAME INFORMATION

Getting to Chapel Hill: Plan Your Arrival Early
For fans flying into North Carolina, Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is a convenient gateway to Chapel Hill.
The Chapel Hill area is served by hotels in Chapel Hill, Durham and the surrounding Research Triangle region. Fans staying outside Chapel Hill should account for traffic and campus road restrictions when planning their arrival on Saturday.
Unlike Hard Rock Stadium, Kenan Stadium sits within a university campus with multiple parking locations and pedestrian routes. Entering a generic stadium address into your GPS may not lead to your assigned lot.
If you’re driving, save the actual parking address before leaving your hotel.

Friday in Chapel Hill: Explore Franklin Street Before the Crowds
If you’re arriving early enough, Friday is also an excellent opportunity to explore downtown Chapel Hill.
Franklin Street is the center of the town’s restaurant, shopping and nightlife scene, with businesses and traditions connected to generations of UNC students and alumni.
A few places worth considering include:
• Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery: Located on the third floor at 100 East Franklin Street, TOPO offers rooftop views of the downtown area and is a well-known Chapel Hill gathering spot. Top of the Hill Official Website
• Carolina Coffee Shop: Serving Chapel Hill since 1922, this historic restaurant is known for breakfast, brunch and its longstanding connection to the university community. Carolina Coffee Shop Official Website
• Sutton’s Drug Store: A Franklin Street institution dating back to 1923, offering classic diner favorites and a nostalgic local atmosphere. It’s particularly worth considering for breakfast or lunch, since the Chapel Hill location closes in the afternoon. Sutton’s Drug Store Official Website
UMKat5 Tip: If Franklin Street is on your weekend itinerary, Friday may offer a more relaxed opportunity to explore than trying to fit everything into Saturday’s game-day schedule.
Explore UNC’s Campus Before Game Day
One of the highlights of a college football road trip is experiencing a campus you’ve never visited before.
UNC’s campus has several historic landmarks within walking distance of Franklin Street and Kenan Stadium.
The Old Well is one of the university’s most recognizable symbols and a popular location for photographs.
Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, located at 250 East Franklin Street, offers exhibits and planetarium shows. Fans interested in visiting should check its operating hours and ticket availability.
Wilson Library and Polk Place provide a glimpse of UNC’s historic campus and are also home to the Chapel Thrill pregame concert festivities.
The Morehead-Patterson Bell Tower is another notable landmark along the way toward Kenan Stadium.
A suggested campus walk is Franklin Street to the Old Well, through Polk Place, past the Bell Tower and toward Kenan Stadium.
Give yourself time to enjoy the architecture, history and surroundings rather than treating the campus as simply a route to the stadium.

UNC Official Parking Information
UNC Parking Requires Planning
Parking at Kenan Stadium is one of the most important logistical considerations for Saturday.
UNC’s public parking locations are spread across campus, and not every lot is immediately adjacent to the stadium.
For the October 31 matchup, public parking opens at 8:00 a.m.
UNC lists public parking at $35 prepaid or $40 on game day, subject to availability.
Prepaid parking sales close at 3:00 p.m. Eastern on Friday, October 30, and permits are tied to the registered vehicle’s license plate.
Public options include 700 Hibbard Lot, Branson Street Lot, Cardinal Deck, Jackson Deck, Manning Lot and South Chiller Lot.
Some useful distinctions:
Cardinal Deck: ParkMobile identifies this as a generally less-used public parking option that can offer a more favorable postgame exit than Jackson Deck.
Manning Lot: Convenient for fans planning to attend the CanesUnited tailgate, although the prepaid parking inventory covers a specific tier and does not guarantee parking directly beside the gathering.
700 Hibbard and South Chiller: Public parking alternatives worth checking for those looking for different routes away from the stadium after the game.
UMKat5 Tip: Buy parking before the Friday deadline when possible. Confirm your specific lot’s access instructions and remember that postgame traffic patterns may direct you away from your preferred route.

Tar Heel Express: An Alternative to Stadium Parking
For fans who would rather avoid campus parking, UNC offers the Tar Heel Express shuttle system.
The service operates from designated park-and-ride locations and provides transportation to and from campus on football game days.
The cost is $10 round trip, with free parking at designated shuttle pickup lots. Children five and younger ride free.
For Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. kickoff:
• Friday Center Park & Ride: Service begins at 4:30 p.m.
• Southern Village Park & Ride: Service begins at 5:30 p.m.
Return shuttles operate continuously for approximately 45 minutes following the game.
Rideshare users should also be aware that UNC designates South Columbia Street, between Manning Drive and South Road, as its official pickup and drop-off area.
Accessible parking and shuttles are provided through the Ambulatory Care Center Lot, with service to Kenan Stadium Gates 2 and 6.

Saturday Game-Day Traditions and Timeline
In addition to the Miami fan gatherings, UNC offers several campus activities before kickoff.
The Chapel Thrill Game Day experience includes a free concert in Polk Place, the Coca-Cola Fan Zone, the Modelo Kickoff Club and the traditional Old Well Walk.
The Old Well Walk is UNC’s team arrival procession, taking players and coaches from the Old Well through campus toward Kenan Stadium.
UNC’s published schedule for a 7:30 p.m. home game provides this expected timeline:
Time (ET) Activity
4:30 p.m. Modelo Kickoff Club and Coca-Cola Fan Zone open
5:00 p.m. UNC Old Well Walk

Kenan Stadium Entry and Rules: What Miami Fans Need to Know
Kenan Stadium gates are scheduled to open at 6:00 p.m., 90 minutes before kickoff.
UNC instructs the general public to enter through Gates 1, 2, 3 or 6. Gate 5 is reserved for UNC students.
Fans should download their digital tickets before arriving, identify the gate closest to their seating section and allow additional time for security screening.
Kenan Stadium also enforces a clear-bag policy.
Permitted items include clear bags measuring no more than 12 x 6 x 12 inches, small clutches measuring no more than 4.5 x 6.5 inches, medically necessary items following inspection, and up to two unopened water bottles of 20 ounces or less per person.
Oversized bags, outside food, coolers, weapons and other prohibited items will not be allowed through security.
Because the game falls on Halloween, fans planning to wear costumes should avoid accessories that could violate stadium security restrictions.
Kenan Stadium also has a no-re-entry policy, and stadium concessions are cashless.
First time at Kenan Stadium? UNC offers first-game certificates and buttons at Fan Services locations near Gates 2 and 6.

Prepare for Halloween Weather in Chapel Hill
For fans accustomed to Miami’s warm-weather games, a late-October evening in North Carolina may require a different approach.
Temperatures can change considerably between an afternoon tailgate and the final minutes of a night game.
Comfortable walking shoes, a light jacket, orange and green layers, and a portable phone charger are all worth considering.
Fans should check the latest forecast before traveling and again on Saturday morning.

A Special Milestone: Ricky Singh
200th Consecutive Miami Hurricanes Game
Among the thousands of fans traveling to Chapel Hill this weekend, one familiar member of the Hurricanes community is preparing to celebrate an extraordinary accomplishment.
Ricky is attending his 200th consecutive Miami Hurricanes football game. His streak began on September 5, 2011, when Miami played Maryland.
Since then, Ricky has followed the Hurricanes through coaching changes, difficult seasons, memorable victories, postseason appearances and countless miles of travel.
According to the attendance history compiled, his first 199 games represent:
Milestone Total
Seasons 16
States visited 19
Cities visited 38
Different opponents 54
Postseason games 15
Estimated miles traveled 150,000+
That includes 102 home games, 78 true road games and 19 neutral-site games. Miami’s record during those first 199 games was 125–74.
Halloween in Chapel Hill will become his 200th consecutive game and his seventh Miami game at UNC.
The numbers tell an incredible story, but they also represent something much larger than statistics. They represent weekends spent traveling, friendships formed across the country, and a commitment to showing up for the same program year after year.
For a fan community built around loyalty and tradition, that’s worth celebrating. 200 consecutive games. One incredible commitment.
Congratulations, Ricky!
Why These Away Game Experiences Matter
One of the reasons I started putting together these guides was to help other Miami fans feel more comfortable traveling, especially those attending their first away game or looking for a place to meet fellow Canes.
It’s not always easy to know where to park, which campus traditions are worth experiencing, or where other Miami fans are gathering.
And sometimes, those little details make the difference between simply going to a football game and having a memorable weekend.
That’s what I hope these guides accomplish.
Whether you’re visiting Chapel Hill for the first time, returning to a familiar road destination, or celebrating your 200th consecutive Miami game, I hope you find something new to enjoy and a few more Canes to share the experience with.
